I have only known Clare for a couple of months, having joined her netball team (I swapped from another team) in a Thursday night women's league.
We play at other ends of the court - I'm a shooter and she's a defender (and a great one) - but we clap and shout at each other throughout the game... Often just random things for no reason; it's how I like it.
From the get-go I had on my list that I wanted to chat to/interview a Physio for TWW, because I knew it would be a great job for people to hear about (from the horses mouth); and I knew of a few 'private' physios... But I didn't reach out to them. And when Clare told me she was an NHS Physio, I realised why... Because I was meant to chat to her.
And if you've seen my social post, where I got all tearful listening to the final edit of Clare's pod, you'll know that the chat with Clare moved me. Although not for any of the reasons you'll be thinking.
Clare hasn't suffered with any significant mental or physical health problems, nor has she had a tricky childhood (that she shared anyway)... Her story is just lovely, because she's lovely. And in the chat I comment that she is, in effect, sacrificing her own wealth and income to work in the NHS, when lots of other people wouldn't and don't, and instead opt for the private sector.
And listening to that comment back moved me, as did other comments Clare made about patient care. They moved me because it reminded me that there's real good in the world.
And don't we all need to see and hear about that more than ever.
Enjoy.
Chops x
