Alessia's was, perhaps unsurprisngly, recommended to me by Jess, who I interviewed quite early on (and if you haven't read Jess's bio or heard her pod, please do so now). Alessia has helped Jess a lot following her own domestic abuse journey; so even though I therefore suspected that meant Alessia would have her own abuse journey to share, in truth, I wasn't quite prepared for the vastness of it... It was a tough, but inspiring listen.
Alessia talks about and describes candidly (and very eloquently) her experiences with grooming at the age of 16, through to physical and mental abuse at 19, stalking, an even coercive control and manipulation throughout her (now ex) marriage. When Alessia tells her 'clients' (for want of a better word) that she understands where they are coming from, she really means it.
The fact that Alessia is now doing what she can to turn her journey into a positive, not just for herself, but other women, is remarkable, because as she says in the chat, no matter what age or what circumstance, you can always create a new chapter for yourself; you can always start anew. Yes, you'll need to take your journey with you, because for good and for (very) bad, it's now a part of you, but it doesn't need to define you.
Enjoy.
