I've known Annie for about 18-months, after our sons' joined secondary school at the same time. And whilst I heard what she did for work quite early on (along with how hardcore it was), I didn't at all know the extent of how it had come about, nor what she has needed to juggle to make any of it work.
Imagine landing your dream job - a role that's a big step up, but comes with heaps of possibility for your future - only for 3-weeks later, your ex-partner and the father of your young child (and who your child is incredibly close with and spends 50% of his time with) to die suddenly, leaving you to forever more play mum and dad, whilst simultaneously managing your son's grief, your grief and trying to hold down said new 'dream' job..?!
I honestly don't think I know many that could have pulled that off...But Annie has... And sitting with her for this chat, and hearing about how she has somehow made it all work, and is not just surviving, but is THRIVING, is nothing short of awe-inspiring, and EXACTLY the right chat to put out on International Women's Day weekend.
(Oh and she's so thriving, that she's just bought a house reno to do up... And manage alongside everything else that she has on her plate... Yep, she's a total bad-ass!)
... Which is why this chat is a bit longer than usual. Her story deserved as much air time as I could give it, as does the great advice (and the tips) she gives for using social media as a small business.
Enjoy.
