I've got to be honest, I didn't expect Louise's story to quite go in the different directions that it did, which is silly really, because if the past year has taught me anything, it's that no story is linear.
Louise's story is a mixture of creative talent, hard work and... well, chance. Because although she carved out her own successful career prior to the world of reclamation, it was a chance meeting and a chance friendship (that later became a romantic relationship) that ultimately brought her to where she is today.
And even though she joined her (now) husband's successful reclamation business later on in life (10-years ago), Louise brought with her a wealth of creative talent and retail experience that has enabled the business to evolve and further flourish... And is enabling them to now build their dream home, which will be (as far as possibly) built and made entirely out of reclaimed materials.
... Which I saw first-hand, because after the 'pod', we popped next door to the 'site' and she showed me all the reclaimed wood and tiles there were being using in the construction, let alone the reclaimed furniture and accessories that will be used in house once it's finished.
It will be a (finished) house to don many a glossy magazine front cover, and will no doubt be used as a beacon of what can be achieved using older/reconditioned materials. I can't wait to go back and see the finished thing!
Louise's story is a journey of highs and lows, and ultimately, real good coming from tragic bad, which is the kind of story we all need to hear, right?
Enjoy Louise's reclamation journey.
